Sheraton Mental Breakdown - Giclée Print Diptych Set
This is a diptych set. Both giclée prints measure 8 1/8in by 5 3/4in. They are scanned from a postcard I drew on during my travels. One print is the front image side of the postcard, and the other print is the opposite side. This piece is about virginal heartbreak in Amsterdam. The original piece was sold around a year ago for the exact rate that I paid for the night at this hotel. An overpriced hotel room I swiped my card at out of necessity was paid for by the artwork I made telling the story of the mental breakdown that caused me to stay there. There's symmetry in that. Additionally, after coming across it again a few weeks ago, I decided to revamp it digitally- see photos for details. During this point of my life I was obsessed with Midnight Cowboy, the 1969 film with Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman. The side of the print with the building has "this is me" with an arrow drawn to where my hotel room was--this is a nod to the scene where Joe Buck (Voight's character) does the same with a postcard of the building that he had just moved into. Free shipping to USA, as always. Add $10 for international shipping anywhere outside of the US.
